A few years back, my brother and I had quite a scare. We
found ourselves face-to-face with a surgeon who was explaining to us how our
father’s “simple” heart procedure was being “upgraded” to a full blown triple
bypass …
Even more upsetting are the words he spoke next … “Take a
good look at your Dad. You have his genes. Even if you do everything right as
far as eating and exercise, you too could wind up in a hospital bed prepping
for a bypass.” Gotta be honest, I was looking for something a little more
uplifting from the guy, but the reality is, the baby blue eyes I inherited form
my Dad came along with a pretty tricky heart as well.
Fast forward 10 years and my Dad is in amazing shape and
spirits and my brother and I have done our best to carry on a “Heart Healthy”
lifestyle. My biggest challenge was always “finding the time”. With three
little kids, there was always an excuse not to exercise. Excuses no more! With
a few simple pieces, a full workout is possible in a small amount of time and in
a small amount of space. And since I work for a promotional products company,
these can all be imprinted! What great gifts!
